The Guidance Departments of the Hollis and Brookline school systems strive to create programs that are collaborative efforts benefiting students, parents, teachers, administrators and the overall community. We, as school counselors, are partners in student achievement and our programs are an integral part of students’ daily educational environment. Our programs are designed to promote academic achievement, career planning and personal/social development for ALL students and are comprehensive (K-12), developmentally appropriate, proactive and systematic in nature. Our programs are delivered through:

  1. A structured, developmentally appropriate guidance curriculum infused throughout the schools’ overall curriculum through classroom and group activities
  2. Individual student planning activities designed to help students establish personal goals and develop future plans through counseling, consultation, and information services
  3. Responsive services for addressing students’ immediate and/or long term needs related to life events, situations or conditions in the students’ lives through counseling, consultation and referral services.

We are accountable for continually evaluating and updating our programs by collecting and using data that links our programs to student achievement.
